Plagiarism
Presenting another's work — words, charts, models or analysis — as one's own without acknowledging the source. The Standards treat it as a form of misrepresentation.
Where you will meet it
Plagiarism appears in 2 learning outcomes on the CFA syllabus. A few of them:
- Put the Misrepresentation standard, I(C), into practice
“This covers guaranteeing a return on an inherently volatile investment, overstating qualifications or the scope of services, and plagiarism — using another's work without attribution, including charts, models and language from research reports.”
- Show a deep grasp of CFA Institute's Code and Standards by interpreting them across a range of professional integrity cases
“Misrepresentation includes plagiarism and overstated abilities.”
