The idea
An employee owes loyalty until employment actually ends, not when notice is given, and someone serving a notice period on paid leave is still employed. A departing employee may prepare to compete, for example by leasing an office or registering a company in their own time, but must not solicit clients, take client lists or other firm records in any form, or misuse confidential information while still employed. After notice, clients may be told the new firm's name but not given contact details there without permission. Whistle-blowing can override loyalty only when aimed at protecting clients or markets, not personal gain. Outside pay that could conflict with the employer's interest needs written consent from all parties involved, and an email counts as written.
