Know what you don’t know yet.
Adaptive exam preparation, starting with all three levels of the CFA® exam, with more qualifications on the way. A short diagnostic places you on every topic, and your plan is built from the outcomes you are weakest at — not from the running order of a syllabus.
One outcome free in every topic — no card. £39 a month after that, cancel any time — or £499 once for lifetime access to every level. Plans and what’s included
Three things it does that a question bank does not
1. It finds out what you actually know
The diagnostic is not a placement test with one number at the end. It estimates you separately on every learning outcome, and keeps estimating as you answer: each question moves the estimate for the outcome it belongs to. That is what makes the rest possible.
2. It decides what to study next, and says why
Study time is allocated by weakness against exam weight, over the weeks you have left. A gap in a heavily weighted topic costs more than the same gap in a light one, so it is worked on first. Change your exam date or your weekly hours and the plan is rebuilt from the new figures — nothing is stored that could disagree with them.
3. It works out what you are about to forget
Practice finds what you do not know yet. A retention model finds what you learned three weeks ago and are about to lose, which is a different list, and schedules each outcome for roughly the day you would otherwise lose it. It also forecasts which outcomes will be weak on exam day, while there is still time to do something about it.
What you get
- Every wrong answer explains itself. Each incorrect option carries the reason it is wrong, attached to the option it belongs to — not one note at the bottom covering all three. If you pick wrongly, you are told what your mistake was.
- Narrated walkthroughs. Diagrams drawn for the idea as the voice reaches it, with the worked arithmetic on screen while it is talked through. You can tap any line to hear it again.
- Full mock exams on a server clock. Enough questions for 20 full-length Level I mock exams, 8 at Level II and 9 at Level III before any question repeats. No feedback until you hand in, a flag-for-review palette, and afterwards a breakdown by topic and the outcomes the paper caught you on.
- Written notes, and the same notes read aloud. For a commute, or a walk, or because reading the same paragraph a fourth time is not working.
- Formula cards with their symbols defined. The expression, what every letter in it stands for, and the condition it holds under — because most marks lost on a formula question are lost applying a correct formula to the wrong situation.
Beyond one exam
Charta Learning is built as a platform for professional qualifications, not a CFA®-only product. The CFA Program is the first, and the same diagnostic, adaptive plan and spaced review are being built for more exams, which we will announce as each one is ready. Tell us which exam you are sitting next and we will email you once, when it is ready.
One email when it is ready, and nothing else about it. Every email has a link that removes your address. See the privacy notice.
What it is not
It is a study aid, not a course, and not a substitute for the official curriculum. Nothing here is a promise that you will pass, and no score in the app is a prediction of an official result: the estimates are the output of a model fitted to your own answers, and they are described as such wherever they appear.
Charta Learning is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by CFA Institute, and is not a CFA Institute recognised prep provider. The questions and study material are written for this product.
Reading the numbers honestly
The app reports what you have covered and how well you know it as two separate figures, because one number cannot answer both and a single percentage tends to flatter. Coverage is the share of the curriculum's outcomes you have started. Mastery is measured across those, and is shown next to the coverage figure so it cannot be read as knowing that share of the syllabus.
On Android, Charta is also an app.
Or use it in any browser, on a phone, tablet or computer.
